The OP asked why it keeps happening, don't like to take the **** but your name on here is Fatty95, could be your just to heavy for the system to last, especially if your prone to hitting potholes.

you may be on to something here. i don't really slam it down much but that does make sense. i don't know the inner workings or the specs. but if the swing arm is moving up into the fender too far, lets say due to a pot hole, it may over extend the rod end side of the the cylinders. it is a 95 and the bump stops are original. i'm sure they seen a lot of action over the years with the stock shocks.
being a fatty probably doesn't help either
Judging by the threads I've seen here, the SS system does indeed suffer some pretty persistent Gremlins. Of course, JD, the owner of SS, stands right up and bends over backwards to get you on the road again quickly.
I commend the OP for being honest about his experience. It helps people judge better if they want to buy one of these, because most threads are kinda rah rah when someone is still in the honeymoon phase of making this $1.7k purchase.
It's natural. Everyone does that when they've spent their hard earned cash on something cool and novel.
I'm not ruling out a SS on my Slim someday. So it's good to know what I'm getting into. Great customer service, but maybe some problems with the system here and there.
