I will have to look up the bulb I purchased ... If someone can refresh my memory on what size bulbs are in the dual headlight. The bulb I purchaased has the SAME base so it will screw in easily to the dual headlight low beam spot, its the plug on the back has a small tab inside on the new bulb that prevents the electrical plug from plugging into it. the bulb from HD doesnt have this little tab. so I took a rotozip tool on the new bulb and ground out that small tab. presto the plug fits in. no modification to the HD light or wiring required!
The bulb that came with it on the low beam was a H11. I replaced it with an H9 Bulb found online. hard to find H9 and H11 as they are newer size.
I wanted to up the High beam wattage but theres not a lot or room to disapate the heat. The H9 is a few watts more so more light but not enough that the amps will cause any issue with the wiring. so a nice improvement. I went with a Sylvania H9 standard bulb. they dont make a silverstar H9 yet. Plus there is alot of space to help with the slightly more heat from the higher wattage low beam bulb.

Thanks Steve,
But alas it seems that it will notfit my bike. Its proably too bigto fit in the smaller FX headlight housing, drat.
Oh well I'll just have to settle for the Silverstars, for now at least. I'm sure as hell not going to stop riding at night just becauseI can't have one.
But that doesn't mean I'mgoing to stop looking for something "better" either.
