Then you can get your finger under a corner of it or use a gasket scraper or a thin screwdriver and wedge it under the frame. The heat releases the adhesive enough that you should be able to pull it apart by hand. Just be careful not to crack the plastic. I've done windshield swaps many times and find that this works best.

Hope this helps.
That did the trick! Thanks! Mine were stuck pretty good so I used the heat gun and it worked pretty well, although I did scratch up the shells in a few small spots. I figured screw it, its not like I'm going to use it anyway. If the LRS doesn't work, I'll be riding without a shield.

Give us an update after a few miles Marc. If I can sell this solo box for a profit I might get a new shield...

Wow, just saw this thread.

Many guys have buffeting solved by a simple tank lift. Much of the air hitting the chest is coming over the top of the tank.

Lifting the front of the tank 1.5" or more will direct most of that air under the tank, it no longer hits the chest and travels up to cause buffeting.

Added bonus-cooler running engine.

Check out this thread- https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...lift-this.html where it solved the problem for odie.

Hmm, I wasn't aware of this - now you gave me something else to think about.
I was planning on removing the tank this winter anyway so maybe now's the time to consider this mod.
Thanks for the heads up...

Now if only I could find that stainless steel quick-disconnect crossover hose I've been looking for...

I have had a few bikes w windsheilds. Iv'e found that the recurve combined with the center vent to equalize the pressure works the best. I put a Honda GW vent into a Older Kaw Concours and buffeting was 90% gone.
Put a recurve sport touring windscreen on the Busa and it helped immensely!
My winter plan for the heritage [I tried shorter screen but NG for neck/old busted]
Raise tank 2''
18'' Long ride shield and adding the GW vent [OK looking/opens/closes] or similar in it.
Have Desert Dawgs from Leader on engine guards for winter already.
I think this will be a good mod. Let ya know

Great! Glad it worked Marc. Yeah, it is definitely possible to scratch the shield removing it, but the main thing is that you don't bend the metal frame trying to get it off. Once that happens, you're kind of beat because it will never look quite right if you try to bend it back.

As DK said, a tank lift can certainly help buffeting as well.

Another thing that makes a difference as far as the shield goes is the angle of the shield. You can angle it forward slightly by adding spacers between the frame bracket and the shield frame at the top. This will change the envelope of air a little. It's a slight difference but an extra inch or two in height of the wind pushed over your head may be just enough to make a big difference for you.

::::::::::: UPDATE ::::::::::::

Got the new LRS Windshield installed and it works very well, MUCH better than the stock windshield for sure!

I still get a little buffeting at higher speeds (70 mph +) but its still not so bad that I couldn't ride with it (like the stock shield). It's not a violent shake but a little bit. Its still more comfortable than having the wind blast you in the chest for extended times at those speeds. Below 60 mph, there is none really at all and between 60 - 70 is when I start to feel it. Like I said, it still isn't that bad overall.

Also, found out that the LRS Dyna "B" shield did not work. I contacted James and he made some changes and now it works with my mounting hardware. The problem was the bottom part of the bracket that holds the clamp was hitting the bottom part of the shield so I couldn't attach the bottom. I am using the Harley Compact Windshield Hardware... HD Part # 57199-05

I was a little concerned about the space above the headlight being too much but I don't think it affected my ride at all. I am still thinking of maybe adding some spacers to try and get rid of the buffeting all together for the higher speeds (although I am not sure if it will work for sure)... can only try it and see.

Crappy day for pics today but here are a few so you guys can see what it looks like. I went with the "light tint" but as you can see, it is darker than the "light tint" for the Harley shield. I still don't think it looks bad though.

I just found this thread and it appears Long Ride Shields no longer makes the Dyna series of shields. Anyone else have suggestions for replacement windshields that will work with the stock clamps?
