Thanks. I took the red and yellow reflectors off heating them up with a blow dryer the first day I got the bike. Didn't know the tank badges were also held on with the same kind of tape.

Not just you. I just got my 2015' Breakout, and I noticed that right away.
I have a 2001' Softail Standard (For sale by the way) and the kick stand is
longer, and it goes forward a lot more than the one on my Breakout.

Is it just me, but I don't find that stand very confidence-inspiring? It doesn't go forward enough for my liking.
I Googled around and apparently there were issues with it on the early Breakouts.

Yes, you have to be very careful, just turn you bars all the way to the left and you will be fine..... for extra safety, keep it in gear. I pretty much alway slook to make sure the tab is in the notch... just a habit now.
The stock stand locks and is just fine. You just have to be sure the lock is engaged when you set the stand before you let go of the bike.
It works just like every other Softail stand, there is a tab on the stand that locks into a slot in the mounting bracket. Get your head down there and look and you will have a much better understanding of what is going on. After looking at it, you will likely never have an issue with it because you will know exactly what is required to be sure it is set properly.
Even so, an audible click/similar would help. This is only my second Harley, but all the other bikes I ever had (mostly British) at least had stands that audibly clicked when they were set AND they were angled further forward when set. Visually reassuring, if nothing else.
I'll get used to it.
One of the local bike clubs use a bar at the front of my village and one of them has a Street Glide and he parks it facing downhill!
Lowered the Breakout today. Went with the 2" Softail Lowering Kit suggested by some folks on here. Turned out great love the look
How difficult was it to install that kit? And would you mind sharing a link to the lowering kit? I'm thinking about lowering mine but I don't know if I want to spend the $1500 on a shotgun shock just yet.

Took me about an hour. All you need is an 11/16 and 3/4 wrench, an allen wrench I forget the size and possibly some pliers if for some reason the sleeves wont pull out by hand. And a lift to get the bike off the ground. Super easy
