The ShotgunShock will allow you to adjust the ride height and firmness at any time with the flick of a switch. From very high, to very low and everywhere in between.
The lowering kits are just reducing the amount that the factory shocks can travel. Because of the reduced travel you will need to stiffen the shocks by adjusting the preload. This will make the ride very firm all the time.
So, you can spend a little money and look cool but ride stiff, or spend more money and look cool when you want, and ride smooth when you don't care.
That is essentially the difference between air ride and non air ride.
No, there is one other KEY difference that the O.P. might want to know: The simple lowering kits are about $70 for the part and then whatever labor it takes. The Shotgun kit cost, I believe, but correct me if I am wrong of course, over $1500, and I don't know if that includes the labor or not. We really should tell the O.P. about that . . .

I'm pretty sure we covered that Jimbo, but thanks for the correction I guess?
If you are talking about the photo just before your post, those are NOT the CVO Breakout wheels; they are the regular Breakout wheels.
And if you really would love one, I have a rear Breakout wheel for sale as I replaced mine before the bike left the dealership with chrome Turbine wheels like used on the CVO model. I sold the front but still have the rear.

Thanks for the explanation 24v. My first bike was a hard tail Sportster so I'm used to the stiff ride. Dead Creek Cycles markets the lowering kit as being "easy to remove" if you need to go back to stock. Would running the bike with this kind of lowering kit damage my factory shocks over time?
i cant really fathom anyone lowering a breakout. air ride, i get. id love to slam this baby on occasion. but im already taking off layers of peg and shoe at STOCK height. lowering it would just defeat the purpose of owning a bike at that point (in my eyes).... why not just get a trike?
