About the bike:2014 breakout SE stage III kit, vans & hines big radius, shotgun air ride rear shocks, all lights are LED, a few other mods.
about me: I’m a mechanical idiot but, I’m trying to learn, both because I want to save money but also I really want to understand how my bike works. I need some help so keep in mind my mechanic vocabulary is limited at best. Illustrations are usually helpful.
my problem: I’m on my second battery in less than 3 years. The latest is only 2 months old and, I had to get a jump today. I keep it on a tender when it’s at home religiously. I rode on the interstate for about 30-45 minutes. Shout it down for about 15-20 minutes then tried to start, no clicks, no lights, nothing. Got a jump from a car and it started immediately. Rode straight home. Pulled into the garage shut it off then tried to start right back up again nothing. Plugged the tender in, at first the tenders lights didn’t come on for about a minute then immediately indicated fully charged. The first appearances of these types of problems the symptoms were I would ride for about 30 minutes or so just enough to get warmed up good stop for whatever reason then when I start the bike up still warm it would stall unless I stayed on the throttle to keep the rpm’s up. I took it to the dealer and after almost 2weeks they said it just needed a new battery which I suspected was little more than a band aid as opposed to the real problem. About a year and a half later the exact same problem came up on a road trip this past May. I bought the new battery to get back home. Sorry for the long winded story but I’m hoping that the more information you have the better your diagnosis will be.
I actually really like the stock Scorchers, I'm just about to replace the rear at 15,000 kms, lasted longer than I had expected. I've run Avon Cobra's, Michellin Commanders, Pirelli's and in my opinion the stock tires handle and stick just as well...(and lasted way longer than the Avon and Pirelli's did) 114 with a cam and I beat the bike pretty hard, tires never let me down. Like the stock tire so much I'm putting the same tire back on...I would give it a try before you switch it out.
Is it my eyes or is that a bigger tank? Bike looks AWESOME.
I know it's still pretty basic looking but I'm one of the few who actually really likes the original look. Very pleased with the stage one upgrades! Next on the list is a set of 12 inch chrome apes.

Way more than a few of us liked the look but the BO is also a wonderful, almost compelling, platform for customizing. I was sorry to see the fundamental design changes they made to the BO in 2018 and have predicted there won't be a 2020 BO. I'm probably wrong and will owe someone on here a buck. We'll soon see.

The biggest let down for me was the new CVO. IMO that thing is terrible looking.

I love this bike. These are all Thunder Bike components (rear fender, seat, headlight, risers, and handle bar) correct?
