Bought a new 2020 BO. Dealer says installing Vance & Hines Fuelpak FP3 will void my warranty. Can I install the FP3, but restore the factory tune and remove it before taking her in for service? Will the technician be able to tell that it had been installed? Thanks
even if you reinstall the factory flash, you will void the warranty. All flashes are stored in the ecm. The digital tech will find them and immediately void the warranty. If that’s something you want to keep, stick with the Harley tuner.
I don't think that is true, multiple tunes are stored on a tuner or computer and the ECM only contains one tune(either stock or flashed). But I think you are partially right, the technicians can tell if the
ECM has been flashed.

It’s absolutely true. There ecm hold’s a record of the flashes. the tech I work with showed me his system. Shows a list of flashes with date time stamp.

Since there seems to be zero consensus about whether or not tune changes can be detected, why not just ask V&H on Monday or Tuesday? Give 'em a call.
If you're going to buy a tuner though, get the Dynojet gadget from Fuel Moto. They have 10x better support.

This is the response from Vance & Hines:
Hello,
Thank you for choosing Vance and Hines. Yes, they are correct. It will void out the warranty. But we do save your stock map from the bike on the Fp3 just in case you need to go in for maintenance and Harley will not be able to detect a different tuner on the bike unless you keep it hooked up and they see it. I hope this helps.
I have a 2020 Harley FXBRS Softail Breakout 114 and will be installing V&H Big Radius 2-2 exhaust. I want to add the Fuelpak FP3 tuner, but Harley-Davidson is telling me it will void my warranty. Is it possible to add the FP3, but restore factory tuning and removing the FP3 prior to taking the bike in for service? Will it be detectable by Harley-Davidson’s technicians? Any recommendations?

I see what your saying now, you didn't make yourself very clear in the first post! You didn't say it was a "record of the flashes", you said "all flashes are stored in the ECM".
i totally agree with NSR, if your not hooked on the FP3 i would definitely consider Fuel Moto and the Dynojet Power Vision Tuner!

I wouldn't believe that for nothing. They are trying to sell tuners and they will tell you anything. Short of them backing up that claim with a warranty reinforcement, I'd take that reply as statements of someone trying to sell you something. FP3s have always stored your base map when you flash it. That was a thing before HD clamped down on things. What it fails to account for is the record stored in the ECM. The ECM absolutely tells harley when/how many times it was flashed and whether it was their tuner or an aftermarket. Vance and Hines can't account for that or change that. The closest I have seen someone do is take an aftermarket tune and mimic it by changing the numbers on the harley tuner software to mimic it. My local dealer mentioned even that's questionable if you manually changed things too far out of EPA specs.
