Finally got my Vance and Hines Big Shots Staggered on. However, I have an exhaust leak at the flange. I used the gaskets supplied with the exhaust and tightened the flange nuts down evenly to 15 ft. lbs. and retorqued after heat cycle. I'm thinking about replacing the gaskets with the stock gaskets, but was wondering if anyone had any advice. It's a rather small leak from both pipes, but I am having a lot of decel popping (no A/C or tuner yet). Here's a pic cuz I know you guys want to see.
dmac936: Is the torque on the exhaust nuts supposed to be that high? Are you sure? Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but I thought it was more like 8 or 10 ft lb. You sure don't want to strip those studs. THAT would for sure cause a pretty good leak.
Also, use a torque wrench that preferably has a working range that includes the target torque number comfortably within its range. i.e. do not use a 150 ft lb capacity torque wrench and set it to 10 ft lb. The accuracy will be poor that near the bottom of its range.
