Whoops! Here is Motorcycle USA's road test comment on the forks:
"Harley’s newest motorcycle is led by a wide 49mm fork, approximately 1.75-inches wider than previous Softails like the Rocker, paired to a 130mm wide, 21-inch tall wheel. "
"The front wheel is wrapped in a 130/60 B21 Dunlop that would have appeared positively skinny when mated with the fat 240/40 R18 rear rubber, except for the hefty 49mm wide front forks—in fact, the widest in the Softail family—that balance the bike’s overall appearance."
They have to be talking about vs the Rocker. The Rocker is a midglide fork spacing vs the wide glide on the Breakout. That is also reflected by the rocker using a different part number for the front axle. The forks on the Blackline are not narrower than the Breakout, just 41 vs 49. I know as that was the bike I had before my Breakout. The Blackline is an FXS.

But, they said other "models" not "model". Confusing.
Finally, I suppose this statement from Harley's own description of the Breakout should be viewed as "definitive": "The front end spreads 49mm forks approximately 1.75-inches wider than previous FX Softail models to allow fitment of a 130mm front tyre. " Jim G
They certainly made out like they went to great lengths to completely customize the BO from every other softail
My "previous" fx softail is the exact same width, and I'm putting a 140 wide tyre up front, no mods....oh snap
Jim, where did you get this information? The Breakout forks are the same width as other Softails. That is why they all use the exact same front axle. The difference is other Softails (except the Rocker)use 41mm fork tubes where the Breakout uses 49mm tubes.

Because my stock wheels are powder coated right over the laces. They werent taken apart to be coated.
I want to run this past you to see what you think. I CANNOT find an exhaust that gets me excited. I actually like the look of the stock system but I'm obviously not a fan of the sound quality, and who wants a stock exhaust anyway? I was thinking about powder coating the stock pipes and throwing on an aggressive looking slip-on to maintain the 70's dragster look. I've seen several European bikes with this look (must be their noise restriction laws). Is there any real downside to doing this, or should I suck it up and find a full system that I can live with? I'm not necessarily concerned about power gains, but I do want it to sound mean. What do you think?
