The headlight on my Train has always had a little bounce in it, nothing enough to bother me in any way...haven't had a problem with it moving out of adjustment either in the 3 years I've had it...
Oh, sweet. Thanks for the gear needed tip and the inside pics. I'm going to definitely get to that. Once I'm done splattering my bike with bugs this weekend.
I have a 2005 FLSTSC the headlight is solid mount,no problems.
After I had just gotten my Softail Custom, I followed my wife somewhere. She said that the light drove her crazy, in the rear view. The vibration doesn't bother me that much, if the trade off is that I will be seen better. Had some punk kid in his mommy's expensive car tell me that my light was loose, that it was shaking. I told him that it wasn't loose, that it was supposed to be that way. That way dumb a$$ kids, that are to busy being cool would see me. He just looked me. Unless the vibration gets worse, I'm leaving mine alone.

I think I would of just opened that can of whoop As* up (my philosophy is next). If a person is nice to begin with, with me, then I'm nice, if your a smart as*, then look out your rear is getting the smack down.
I am having the shaky headlight problem on a 08 FXSTC too. However I cannot see the images of your fix. I just see an IMG tag and a local path... How do u see the images? Thanks
mine shook really bad on my 07 FXSTC. i couldn't get the acorn nuts and rubber bounts loose so I tried something different. fixed for about $1.00 and its rock solid. i've ridden about 2k miles and still solid and no issues with the bulb. here is how:
look at the back of the light (glass part right above the internal metal bracket) mine had a scratch mark where the glass was hitting the bracket. i took a round 1/8" thick teflon stick on foot about the size of a quarter. got it at Lows. its what you would put on the bottom of something to keep it from scratching whatever you set it on. like the rubber stick-on feet that would be on the bottom of a lamp or anything you would sit on a table. peel and stick over the scratch so it rests on the bracket when re-assembled. my light never shakes and is now solid.
i used to hate riding at night because the light shook so much. problem solved. the heat from the light hasent been an issue as i've ridden for 5 hours straight with no issues. worst case it will eventually cut through the teflon foot and i'll stick on another one, it came in a 4 pack.
