Was finally able to test the headlight last night on a few hour ride and it friggin works like a charm... no more headlight shake. The riders in front of me appreciate it too. HA
06DEUCE, Can you repost the pics. They aren't showing up for me. I have an 08 and it still has the same issue you are all talking about.
06DEUCE I can not access the pics either. Does it have something to do with our membership? I see the parts list from different folks, but what to do with them is where I'm stuck at! This shakey headlight is driving me crazy, please help.
I see organ donor/crotch rockets BUY a modulator to do this so they are noticed more. When I first got my 06 FLSTSC (in 06) it did that. I checked all and concluded it was due to it's mounting like you mentioned. I just figure it makes me more noticeable! It shakes a lot too as it is a springer front end!
I was waiting for 06Deuce to re-post his pics, but if ANYBODY has pics of this set up PLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE let me see it. The shakey headlight is driving me crazy and I got a strange look from local law enforcement the other night.
being seen or standing out is usually a GOOD thing, to hell with the riders in front. I was JUST taken down by a cager turning left in front of me. Even WITH my shaky headlight, he said he didn't see me! Now to make my 67flh taillights visible.......
I used the suggested red-neck fix for a coupe of months, and it worked pretty well. Zip-Tied the bucket to the bracket to tighten it and it remained solid. But being a CVO, i thought I should do a more permanent fix.
So I went to the hardware store and bought the bolts and spacers that are listed above.
Here are some pictures.
I found it easier to unbolt the Bucket from the bike and then I cut what little remaining attached rubber there was. That way I could take the bracket out and have more room to vice-grip the little bit of metal under the rubber and get the nut off. It wasn't fun.
I also highly recommend the Ghoticov's suggestion to cut down the spacer. i had no way to cut it and the 1/2" long spacer is just a little too big. Made it very hard to get all three bolts through the bucket shell because of the angles. Hard to explain, but maybe the pics will help.
Test rode it afterwards and works great. just need to do a aiming height adjustment. No more reflector strobe effect.

Took the headlight apart and then commenced to fighting with the dreaded rubber/stud/demons from hell. QUOTE]
BigZees, I totally agree with you!! How did you get those little POSs off? Please let me know before I get the hammer, grinder and reciprocal out. REALLY looking forward to fixing this.
