I have a Rick Doss rear tail light on my 08 FXSTC that has been nothing but trouble. The wiring is fine but the light itself (where the wires go into it) has always been flaky. I had to mod it to get the light to work. Now my LED board is on the fritz. Some LED's works, others don't. I found another light with same LED board that I can buy and use to replace bad board but they want $80 for it.
So I'm thinking maybe relplace the entire light but there aren't many options. I like the idea of a swingarm mount light with plate holder but then i would have a big open gap under my fender where the old light was.
has anyone done anything like this? What did you do? I'm kinda up in the air atm.

Here is my current tail light. I may just pull the light off the chrome back plate and see if I can put a different light on it. Might have to drill new holes.
I'd really like to move the tail light away from the fender but then i would have to put something in the gap under the fender.
That is along the line of thought I had. My only issue is I have a bobtail fender and if I remove the light then i have this big open gap between the fender and tire. Might look a bit odd.
