Default Changing gas gauge on 2004 Softail

I just bought the HD LED Gas gauge. How hard is it do install it myself?

I recently installed a new speedo. Harder? Easier? I watched a couple YouTube videos before I did the install.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

its easy just lift tank to expose wire connection. unplug it, if you cant get the wires out of the connector like i had on mine there was corrosion and i ended up cutting the wires about 2 inches from connector then pull guage out. keep old guage and wires incase you need to reuse.

On my Heritage, I was able to disconnect the gauge with out lifting the tank. I could reach the connector and there was enough slack for it to hang down, to get the pins out. First try, I put the pins back in, in reverse order. You'll do fine.

I also used dielectric grease in the clip. Something to consider getting ahead of time if you're into that level of protection against corrosion.

Default Wow! That was easy!

Thanks for your help! It took under ten minutes. Unfortunately, didn't get to take it out.

Just curious, but the 1st, 3rd, and 5th lights blinked, one by one, then light 1 is steady. I guess, and hope, that once I start it up, it syncs up.

Again, thanks for the suggestions.

Ride safe!

When I start mine, all blink in succession to the fuel level. Mine works great, when the led's get down to the red led, I still have 2 gallons left.

Yea super fast to install, however don't seem to work very long. Mine always reads full after only 6-8 months of having new gauge
