Default Stock primary cover?

This is a strange question, but what is the stock primary cover on softail slim? Doesn't look as bright as chrome......is it a type of chrome, or brushed, or what?

Brushed aluminum, along with all other covers.

Does that change anything if I want to paint it? Or follow the steps that have been posted.....

Scotch brite, self etch primer, HD wrinkle black?

Paint away, good man... paint away.

With any paint or powder coat, preparation is huge. Make certain all oil and whatnot is off, and the part is spotless.

Keep us updated Mike. I bought a can of wrinkle black (texture) from HD. Mine has water stains or something and mag polish just won't remove

I just took the stock mirrors, hit them with scotch brite and then HD wrinkle black. Anxious to see how they hold up, I purposely didn't use primer to see how the HD sticks. They look awesome right now. I tried with rustoleum hammered, but it didn't look black enough.
