I bought my bike used and the PO had put a Metzler 880 on front a year before I bought it, but the rear was the OEM Dunlop, looking pretty haggard at that point. So I made it my first order of business to replace it with A Mich Commander II. The front Metz looked good so I left it on. Been running that combo for about 3500 miles with no prob. I will replace the Metz with another Mich Commander II early next season just for good measure, but until then, I'm fine with the mismatch.

Running a CII on rear with a Dunlop up front.

Would like to know also. Handled a lot better when put the CII on the rear and need to change out the front over the winter.

I could not see spending $300.00 on a tire from the dealer. Bought aftermarket that does not match the front. Not able to find a D407 except from the dealer not going that route. Reviews say that the American Elite last longer with good ride quality.

I put an american elite on the rear of my heritage recently. The 402 on the front has plenty of tread left. I noticed a difference in handling right off with the elite. Better cornering and better traction in the rain. I was pretty happy with the 401 it replaced, getting 12K out of it. I like the elite even better,
