G'day guys, put my bike in the shop the other day to get head stem bearings adjusted, when i picked the bike up noticed a scratch from a screwdriver or punch on the top tree, was'nt to happy so i told the owner and he came out to have a look. He went wild when he seen the scratch and said it was totally unacceptable for this to happen. Said he'd order the new part and ring me when its in so he can fit, this guy is very hands on and even though he's the owner still gets his hands dirty. I was quite surprised by his response and thought i was going to be left with damaged trees but to his credit he's going to put it right.
I was perusing the forums and what did i find? A whole section devoted to exhaust. In that section there is a thread of members posting videos of their rides with sound. I write this with a heavy heart, my deuce has finally been sold, avobill (from this forum and Fla) has taken her away to good home. I will miss her.
I dont write in here often anymore but, i do snoop from time to time, it is good to see CC still contributing, he has one of the best looking deuces here.
Since we are talking about loud pipes. I just finished plowing this wonderful mess the mother nature dumped on us in Jersey and decided to stop by my dealership to see my bike after my 103"conversion. I was talking to the service guys and the tech said that she is a beast and sounds great so we went outside to take a look. I started her up and just smiled. It was like hearing a child say their first words and was music to my ears. Then reality kicked when I turned her off and heard the down pour that was coming down.
Then the all sorts of B.S. happened. They tried to go back on their winter special price and tell me the upgrade was $2400 up $800 from what was originally quoted. That didn't last to long till I went to the GM and demand the price. They told me that I got the standard 1690 kit and the additional cost was for the compression parts and drilling the heads. Is this B.S. or is there a difference in performance of having a compression release and having no compression realease?
Anyways she sounds like a monster and I can't wait to open her up. Weather man is shooting for a high of 39 tomorrow so maybe I'll get here then. But what a huge difference in sound after this conversion. If anyone has been thing about and your dealershipis running winter specials I say get on it.
If you did the standard flat top/cam package, there should be no reason for compression releases. Adding them isn't necessary.
Did you do domed,high compression pistions? That isn't part of the usual package and not one that you should have gotten. Lots of pinging issues with HC pistons..
Anyway, I would stick to your guns on the price, especially if they didn't "OK" the compression releases with you in the first place..
