Thanks DD,
As for clearance, I had to file down 2 fins for the carb to
fit square with the intake and breather holes on the heads.
Just the corner of the 2 fins. No biggy. Not sure what you
mean about the carb pushing the breather ports away from
the heads bro. You will need an adapter that bolts to the
back of your air cleaner.
Did your carb come with a choke cable?
ORIGINAL: deuce dude
hey crazy...back is doin alright, i can ride again...cant ask for more. your bike just keeps getting better everytime i see it! i have a couple of questions.....did you have any clearance problems with the carb?....did your air cleaner bolt right on or did the carb push the breather ports away from the head? ...do i need an adapter plate for where the air cleaner bolts to the carb?? the 48 doesnt come in the same kit as yours did and i am unsure if i need any other parts.....i think they are the same as far as the body of the carb. i'm hoping to see a big difference in performance.
thanks man...........
turns out it wasn't the gas caps, when i had the motor done and the Thundermax ecm put in there was a code that wasn't cleared. Had the code cleared, I was in Mytrle Beach last week and it was 86 degrees and sat in traffic for sometime and the light didn't come on. While I was there I went to the Zippers Tent and had the Thundermax autotune module installed. The bike runs much better now.
Hey guys, new to the site and wanted to share a couple of Deuce's with completely different styles, (Black one is mine, Silver/Blue is my Nephew's) The contrast shows how drastically you can change the Deuce and still maintain a beautiful looking bike. Hope this works as I am new to playing with computers...blame it on the Marine Corps...ha
bad news deuce brothers. i had an accident this weekend on the deuce. i was riding in a big group and the lead riders failed to signal to the rest of usthat there was some debris on the highway. the bikes in front of me hit the brakes and swerved to miss a tire and some wood in the road and i had to lock up my brakes to avoid hitting them. i locked up at 70MPH and left a long skid mark before i went into the death wobble, lost control and the bike layed over. iflew over the bike and did 6 or 7 flips down the highway. i have a broken collar bone, 11 stiches in my head and road rash all over my head, elbows, shoulders and back. my hands are scarrred, bruised and swollen.i can't bend my elbows because they're too swollen. the deuce looks dead but it runs. the tank, rear fender, bars, risers, triple trees, hand controls, foot controls, pipes, primary cover, headlight, turn signals and probably a lot more need to be replaced. yesterday the soarness was wearing off so i can finallymove around a little bit. the insurance guy is coming friday to look at the bike and hopefully he won't be an a$$hole. i'll get the deuce fixed and iWILL ride again. hopefully soon. right now, pain medicine is my friend.
thanks cc. i was very very lucky. my head injury could've been a lot worse. i'll never ride without a helmet again. and i'll never ride in a big group with guys i don't know. my riding buddies are experienced riders who look out for each other but in a big group you don't know who's inexperienced or drunk or just young and don't give a ****. the last couple days we've been coming up with a long parts list and it might be better if i total the bike. i didn't want to do that...i want to keep my deuce and rebuild it. i'll keep you posted.
