No I didn't but there were 1940's models that DID NOT have the moulding trim and came with only the emblem and those were the solid color ones ( but some solid colors had the moulding also. The ones without the moulding has a pinstrip type of line that came out of the front center area where the moulding would have gone and arched around the top to the rear it was rather interesting looking......I will try to locate a pic of one.
Great stuff Trauma! I appreciate your detail response. Good tips and instructions. I really like the way your bike looks. I'm gonna use it as a guide as I begin to add to mine.
I've seen a few '05 and later Springers with the horn kit that HD says will not fit. Is it nessasary to have the light bar installed tomount the horn?
TIA for any info.
That's negative Panhead! It will pop right in there! you may have a wiring issue as in the wires that come with the horn kit may not quite reach but that is easily remedied!
Well, here's a shot of my Springer, with the wife and I.
I've got the Stage I intake, SE Pro pipes and the D/L to go with it.
I've added a few cosmetic dodads; Nostalgic AC cover, smoked turn signal lens with visors, Round horn cover, the fork rocker covers,a smooth dash cover. I plan on adding the old style horn to the front end, relocating the turn signals to the forks, and the rear, to the fender under the tail light. A little bit at a time! This winter I may put the SE 211 cams in it, along with the race tuner, since HD no longer will do the D/L's I have found some good Ideas and info here, thanks to all for the participation, and you all have some beautiful scoots!
Yeah 'king, I think they put the black on the bottom and the color fenders, in '06 to get some contrast in the front end. I was toying with the idea of have my fenders painted, putting Lava red side panels, then some stainless trim at the transition. I like the idea of yours, doing the old style tank emblems. I may try to go with the '47-'50style.
