Maybe folks are getting tired of hotels in Daytona going from $79 before bike week to $189 with a three or four night minimum during bike week. I notice that every hotel along the Ocean had a vacancy sign on this afternoon Usually on Thursday you can't find a room. I refuse to pay those rates for sub-standard rooms. I decided to stay at Palm Coast this year. Only 20 mintues to Daytona. The rates are better, hotels nicer and quieter. They are also sold out in this area. The crowds also seem off a little from last year. It may be the economy or it may be that we are getting tired of being screwed by the Daytona Hotels. Just an observation....
more and more people seem to share your sentiment concerning Daytona and bike week. No one seems to want them there and treats them witha touch of disdane(sp?).

I tend to stay up in St. Augustine. Quiter and its a nice 50 mile ride down A1A to Daytona in the morning. They still jack the rates up though.
I noticed the crowds were definetly down this year and I actually think its due to the poor economy this year. People just don't have the money to travel (they might save a buck if they actually rode their bike instead of their gas guzzler and trailer) to daytona. Either way if anyone here needs a place to stay i'll only charge $50 to sleep on my couch, I'm in orlando lol.
Daytona is WAY overcommercialized and they'll continue to take you're money as long as folks keep paying the ridiculous prices. I've only been once. Over $200 per night for a hotel room and it took us over an hour to go 5 miles. Screw that, never again. Wanna have lots if fun, stick with the smaller rallies.

one of biggest rallies in the country is overcommercialized? any more so than laconia, sturgis, laughlin? get a clue - what did u expect?
do some research and educate ur self so that u can't wyne about being a sucker. [:'(]
the people that enjoy daytona send our warmest regards -
This was our first tiem going to Daytona we go to Myrtle all the time but just wanted to go and check out Daytona to see what all the hipe was all about and all I have to say is daytona don't have anything on Myrtle beach the rooms are why over priced for what you get and I honestly think Myrtle beach is a biggier rally and what the hell is up with the strip clubs not being able to even show a damn TIT they said the mayor changed the law right before bike week that no strip clubs could show any nudity of any kind that should tell you guys something right there that they oblvuy don't want the bikers there which is fine with me becasue they will never get a drop of anymore of my money what a let downthat place was.
