I saw one of these maps at Smoky Mt. Harley Davidson is Gatlinburg and was wondering if they are worht the money? anybody have the Appalachian edition?
Mad Maps have the loop routes in various colors. I have the Smoky Mountain/Appalachia edition. It doesn't have the detail of a regular map. I use a regular map because I like to cruise back roads. My wife loves our Mad Map, I could do without it. It has descriptions of the routes in it also. Overall, it's worth the money, IMO.
Just remember, you can not alter MadMaps routes. It's best to buy the paper version and then plot the route on MapSource yourself. Then if you want to add waypoints or via points you can.
If you can read a regular map..... then no.... but if it's just a buncha squiggly lines,to you.... or you're in a rush... Mad maps will save you time and energy. I like the ADC state maps.... large scale, and I've found many great roads, by reading the maps.

Mad Maps are worth it if your not a local rider.
if your a local rider, there are many other roads less traveled that are way more enjoyable to ride then the ones on a Mad Map...
Enjoy your riding what ever you choose to buy for a map!
Well, those of us who are not in Florida can't just ride til we hit water then turn around! HA! HA! I just would hate to miss out on a really cool ride if Im in the area is why I want one.
