There's a lot of decent places to live in and around Carrollton, so you shouldn't have a problem with the commute. From there, the best riding is northeast through NE Texas, SE Oklahoma and into the Ozarks of Arkansas. I truly believe you'll enjoy Texas.

You might want to make sure to stay out of the Dallas Independent School District (DISD). They keep having problem after problem over there. Good luck with your decision!

Yes, mostly Dallas proper. Some of the outlying towns/cities are part of DISD tho. Make sure that where you move is outside the district. I've heard good things about the schools just north of Dallas.

I lived in San Antonio for 1 year and Houston for 3 years. In 1999 I moved back to Orange County, CA. I was glad to be back in So. Cal. although i must say that Texas was an enjoyable place to live. The weather was the only thing I didn't care for so much. Coming from S.C. to Dallas area you will notice that it's fairly flat there. Not nearly as scenic as where you're from. On the other hand, some don't care about scenery, so it's probably worth taking a flight out there to investigate the area and see what you think for yourself.

Hey DeadCarny,

I have lived in Carrollton for 20 years, seen it grow from pasture to a bustling suburb, there isnt much room left to grow, all the bare spots are filling in.

Who you thinking about working for?

As for the area in general, its no different than any other city around the country, traffic is bad anywhere period.

as for where you live its probably like Hardinsburg kentucky where I have a family interest which I visit about twice a year, which the only time traffic is bad is during the county fair, and the tabacco harvest.

Weather is generally hot from MAY thru October, thunderstorms are out of this world, and hail gets as big as softballs, forget the tornados, we get one somewhere, everytime the dry line moves through from West Texas, just kidding.

North side of the area is great for riding, about 25 min, and your back into the prairie

It pretty nice around here, just dont own or live in Dallas Proper (City Limits) City planning is poor and a real battle between the have's and have nots, if you know what i mean.

If you decide to live in Carrollton, and can afford it, live in Castle Hills, pretty sweet over there.

one last word, stay away from Frisco or McKinney if you plan on working in Carrollton, its the hottest development in the area and they have no roads to move the 1/2 million people living there, they are under construction, and well TRAFFIC is, Bad.

Ride ON............[8D]
