I was prepared to spend this winter rebuilding my much abused, but very loved and paid off, 2012 48. I mean, I was prepared to spend at least 1,000.00 or more getting a seat, 3.3 tank and gaskets and stuff. Cleaning it was on the list, too. It has almost 30k hard miles on it, so there are a bunch of little things.
Just got the email about the new 2016 48. It has a lot of things going for it like the wheels, ac and new electronics in the speedometer. It's 4 inches shorter, but loses 1 inch in trail and that may take away some of the superior handling of this big mini-bike? That's a question....does trail really matter on the street?
I just might trade my 2012 for a 2016 48. It looks that good. Good thing the stealerships are closed today, my day off---lol

I can't wait to ride the 2016!!! That will tell whether you want to trade! So how about you let us know what you think? If I had the $$$ I think I would be trying to figure out what color and trade up! What do you think of the tank badge? I'm not sure if I like it! Need to see one in person badly! Lol

Reason: Spelling
I saw one at a dealer yesterday. Good looking bike. The new seat is a big improvement in comfort and keeping you planted but sits you further forward. Kind of makes me glad I got a 15 and didn't wait for the 16's. Kind of wish I had waited too... Oh well too late now!
I think the 4 inches longer is a misprint. It has about the same wheel base but the fenders dont stick out further forward or further aft. Wheres the 4 inches coming from? Its a misprint. And it looses a little rake and GAINS a little trail which should make handle a little better. What I like about it is its front end, 49mm forks! I have no intention of buying a new one but may look into getting the forks and triple clamps.

If it loses rake then it loses trail, not gains.
I have to read and find out if there is any changes in 48's rake.
OP, if you have a reference or link please post here.
