Default 1200C spoke rub

Just replaced my 21 inch front rim (bent) with an Ultima. Put on a new stock size tire and tube too. After riding for 5 miles....I noticed a ticking sound but couldn't find where it was coming from. After 20 miles...I found it. The spokes were hitting the bottom part of the brake caliper. All wheel washers and spacers were put back in the right place. 180'd the wheel and flipped brake disc to other side....still hits.

Any ideas?

Hub width or lacing hole pattern are wider causing the spokes to sit wider from the centerline.

The only fix that comes to mind off hand, would be to grind a bit of metal off of back the caliper. It's obviously barely making contact. So I believe you can grind enough away to offer the needed clearance. Maybe you can show us some pics?

Default Here's what I got

The shiny area is where it's hitting on the caliper. Looks like I'm going to have to shave some off or let the spokes to it....which is not my plan.

If you're any good with an angle grinder, it would only take a few minute to shave away enough to give you ample clearance.

I had to do the same with mine. Not a big deal though, it doesn't take long at all.

I think a thinner brake pad on the inside will help..
