My nightster does not have a tach at the moment, at what speed do i redline in first, and in second, ect..... i know when to shift when driving normal but when i want to haul *** i just wanted to know my rpm limits according to my mph/gear. thanks
The bikes have a rev limiter incorporated into the electronic ignition. When you reach the rpm level that would be red line, it sputters and won't rev any higher. I've only hit it once on my bike. And that was because I was trying to make noise more than riding fast.
You will get more performance from the bike if you shift before that point. You will be out of the power curve before you hit the rev limiter.
Do not hit the rev limiter everytime, that would not be a good idea.
Just shift when it sounds like the engine is working really hard to keep up with road speed.
you'll hear the engine start to wind out and the engine will vibrate more more etc. as stated above shift when it sounds and feels like the engine is working too hard for the gear.
