Need little help, looking at 74 XLCH, owner said cranks and runs. So I go look, couple of kicks it fired, went to engage 1st, lever rotates forward until linkage stops it. Owner says oh yea, that's the only problem. Bike looks good engine sounds strong, just not sure to buy can't ride. Any thoughts broken shaft, splines worn, or deeper.
Unless it's something on the exterior like stripped splines, you gotta pull the trans. to figure it out. Something is up inside, maybe the shift rod isn't seated in the pawl carrier, forks busted up, etc. Can't say without getting in to it.
81rat I agree, what would be price, in your opinion. Nice looking scooter but if you can't ride it not worth spit. I'm not a sporster guy, but would buy, what's that price to take chance
1975
Production Information:
XLH (Super H) (13,515)
XLCH (Super CH) (5,895)
XLH and XLCH both got a new shifter linkage to put foot shift on the left side and a new rear brake linkage to put brake on the right side. (Fed mandated)
