I no longer use glue. I wrap electric gape around the bar and twist on the grip. It stays in place and hopefully can be removed/replaced without having to destroy the grip. Have had left ISO grip that way on my road king for nine years and 50k miles.

Not totally true. If the grips you want dont fit into or even have the extension that sits in the left switch housing, then you need an adhesive or some trickery to keep the grips from moving around or slipping off.

Must have been a failure on my part to be clear when I said late model Harley grips. I meant grips in the Harley catalogue or gripes that came stock on your bike. All of these are the glue-less design. After market grips do not apply. Your mileage may vary.

Hairspray has always worked for me on street bikes, grip glue for atv or dirt bikes, just my experience.

I've been using hairspray since my bicycle days as a kid. I used it on my sportster with great success. It helps the grips slide on easily, then turns to glue when it sets up

The renthal stuff is good. My ness grips came with a paper glur sheet. For grip glue try a honda yama, or those that has dirt bike.

In regard to all the hairspray endorsers, do you spray in the grip or on the bar?

I spray both inside the grip and on the bar end. The hairspray is slick and allows the grip to slide on easily and rotated as needed to position it where or how you want it. Let it set overnight and when its dry, the grip is locked solid.
