I like the forward controls, cause I'm 6ft and old. The forwards on the 1200 fell like mids to me, my knees are still bent and comfortable.

I switched to the forward controls. As far forward as I could get them. I have a 2015 XL1200T and those mid's were way too difficult to get used to. I felt crunched up on the bike (and came from a 2005 Honda Shadow VLX600 with forward controls) and I'm only 5'9". Just got my bike back today. Here it is to show how even the forward controls aren't too far up (I also have guard pegs to long rides on the open road).

2015 XL1200T w/ extra work.

I'm getting shorter as I get older... But, I still like forward controls! I had an FXR in the 90's and the mid controls drove me kinda nuts. Once I put forwards on, it was all over.

Then, I got a bike with floorboards... Now, the only thing that bugs me about my wife's 48 is no floorboards. One day I'll either talk her into floorboards or I'll convince her it's not really her bike afterall... And put floorboards on it

When I first bought the sportster with forwards it took a bit to get use to them. Always had mids. But now after riding with them, I would never go back.

Yeah I am only Five foot eight inches(height) and I grew up on dirt bikes and even on my 65 triumph I would use the passenger pegs to relax. The forwards feel very natural but I am used to the mids so we will see where this aventure takes me.

Default mid controls installed

Well I took the mid control route, I tore all of the forward control stuff off and started assembling the mids on the gear side that went easy, then over to the rear brake pedals side that is where I ran into trouble it was not as easy to assemble that side. I looked at it real close and figured out how it all went together and took it all apart and put the rear brake pedals side together and double checked all of the nuts and bolts and allan bolts and took her for a ride.
I can't believe I have been riding around on forward controls for so long, I am now a solid fan of mid controls and I only put like 30 miles on the mids.
