Default Speedometer not working

2011 48 with proximity key fob

Yesterday I rode to work with 0 problems. I got off work, started her up and let her idle while i put on helmet and gloves. Rode out of the parking garage and onto the street, looked at the (stock) speedo to check my speed and it is totally blank and the speed dial is at 0 mph.

She was still running and i didn't want to run the chance of shutting her off and not being able to get her started again while being 30 miles from the house, so i rode her home. About 1/2 way home, i noticed my headlight wasn't on. I tried the turn signals and they aren't working either. I wasn't sure at the time but i assumed the brake lights were not working either, so I was very careful going the rest of the way home...Got home no problems.

Got home and turned her off and she restarts....just no speedo, lights, brake light, or horn.

When you turn on the ignition, the oil light and check engine light comes on as it always does while the fuel pump starts up, then goes away when ready to start. She starts up perfectly.

The neutral light works when in neutral. Turn signals light up if you move her without the fob nearby as they are designed to do.

I have replaced the ignition key with a toggle switch. I'm not sure if that is the culprit. I will be taking it off and checking the wiring and switch. It has been on for about a year with 0 problems. Also thinking there may be a burned out fuse but not sure.

Any other places to check will be appreciated.

Found out it is 2 blown fuses. One for the headlight and the other for the turn signals, brake lights, and horn. I'm replacing them and then need to track down the cause.

I was going to say fuses, but like you say, tracking down the cause is the trick.
Good luck.

Good luck.

Fount it. One of my crimps on my relocated ignition switch came loose.
