Default Lead Additive

I wonder if this would be a good thing on the new Sportsters ? A few drops I mean.I have some sort of additive for an old 1973 mopar engine I have . I don't think it is true lead though.

Lead additives are meant to be used on earlier model engines that were engineered for use with leaded fuel.

The use of 'lead additives' in these engine (if usedwith today's lead free gasoline) will reduce value seat wear and sink.

Modern engines are engineered with hardened valve guides and other components to allow them to run efficiently with unleaded gas.

Adding a 'lead additive' to engines designed to run on unleaded fuel won't help anything.

Not to mention that it will destroy the O2 sensor if your bike has one.

Yeah, I didn't even think about the sensor thing.

I guess I will have to do some research. I thought lead helped to make an engine run cooler.

Lead actually damages converters.Unleaded gas came out when converters were put on cars.O2 sensors came out much later than that.Coverters came in 1974 and O2 sensors about 1981 or 1980 in California. My bike came with a converter by the way in the front muffler. That muffler fell off and had to be replaced with a Vance and Hines one though.Lol.

So , after a small amount of surfing for lead , this one I find interesting.

"Lead is actually bad for engines" "Leaded gasonline is still sold to the Aviation sector" .

Yeah , I guess we don't care if an airplane engine breaks.

Yeah , I know , differnt valve and seat materials , no cat convertors probably.

There is an Airplane called the Sportster.

This is the last thing I will say on this.

They only put the best fuel that can be found in aircraft, don't want them falling out of the sky.Who cares if a car or motorcycle dies on the side of the road.Give them the dirty gas and ethenol mix and tell them it's the best.
