I'm just after replacing the stock air cover on my XL883R with a Wyatt Gatling drilled air cover. But after starting the bike I find that it's over reving. Has anybody came across this? When you release the throttle I have to turn it round to get the revs to dropped its as if it's not returning fully. I've checked to make sure nothing if catching & ive adjusted both cables Any advise?
Make sure your cables are fully seated. Loosen the idle cable a bit, those things are a pain in the *** and better left loose. Adjust throttle cable so it hits the stop on the carb at full throttle open.
have the cables been lubed? is your cruise **** dragging? what year is this?
it's a 2016 XL883R the cables are only on a few months, the only thing we did was remove the stock air breather, fit the mounting kit & new breather. It looks like the cable return is not fully returning but I can't see why
Are you sure? I do not see any 883R model for 2016. Anyhow, just to humor me, can you make sure that the star-shaped screw labeled 8 in the diagram below is not tightened:
Getting the cable adjustment off can cause that. Saw it happen in one of my cable adjustments. When I adjust cables I usually have the air cleaner off so I can see the butterfly is opening all the way and closing when I let go the throttle go.
