2007 was the first year of EFI on Sportsters AFAIK. Are you sure you have a 2006? I have never heard of a Screamin' Eagle EFI upgrade kit for a carbureted Sportster, a lot would be involved, including a new wiring harness, ECM, pipes with O2 sensors, injectors, etc.. Even the 2007 heads were different so the manifold spacing changed. Can you post up some pictures of what you have? Double checked your VIN?

The H-D model year starts in September and ends the following August, so 2007 Sportster models went on sale from 1st of September 2006.

Any Sportster bought between Ist of September 2006 and December 31st 2006, is a 2007 model year, not a 2006.

That accounts for the confusion of an EFI Sportster registered in late 2006, it is really a 2007 EFI model not a 2006.

New upgrades were announced in the August of the year before their official model year.

 

Yes, I ordered my 1991 Sportster in August, 1990. Picked it up November 24, 1990 but I have never called it a 1990 Sportster even if the manufacture date was October, 1990. So, perhaps his bike was made in late 2006 but its not a 2006 model.
