I need to put a new air cleaner on my wife's 2016 Iron. It hits her in the knee bad enough to leave bruises after a decent ride. I'm looking for something smaller in diameter but it seems nobody lists dimensions when shopping online. Anybody have a suggestion that would give an extra 2 inches of clearance for your knee.
I don't have a recommendation of an air cleaner except to say save yourself some future hassle and buy one that makes routing head breather hoses easy.
I had the same issue, my knee would rub on the stock air cleaner of my Roadster. I replaced it with this K&N. https://www.knfilters.com/mobile/mPr...cid=FREEKNTOTE
I have mid controls and my knee is no where near the elbow that connects to the filter now.

Oil misting? Yes, I take the filter off every other gas fill up and wipe the inside clean but I also ride the bike hard, which I read is a contributor to misting. Joker Machine sent me replacement bolts but they did not help. The nice thing about this unit is it's only one screw to take the filter off. It literally takes 20 seconds.
If your wife rides the bike a lot, the filter will also not stay purple for very long since it is exposed to the sun.

I tried a couple different air cleaners but went with a dk customs. If I did it again I would have for the slightly lower profile one, but I still would have gone with theirs. I like the look, simple design, and have them paired with some external breather bolts.
DK customs has a good selection of ACs. They provide diameter but you can email or call them to asked for specific dimensions....or just ask them which ones are low profile.
Your wife must have forwards. I had mids so it never seemed to be an issue regardless of which AC I used.
