Default spit and sputter when pulling out
Hi all. .I hope someone can send me in the right direction on this problem.. I have a 2005 xl1200c with 38000 miles. It runs great until it gets good and warmed up,then when I stop at a red light and go to take off it sputters and farts and spits no power to pull out. Have to ride clutch to get it moving again and then it is fine after you get moving again until the next stop sign or red light...I don't think it is carb related or it would do it all of the time...Could it be the coil going bad? Has anyone else had this problem and figured it out please let me know what you did... Thanks Bob

Sounds like a possible vacuum leak. Check intake seals and vacuum hoses.

Any reason why it wouldn't be the carb? Sounds like possibly a dirty low speed jet or pump problem?

It runs great until it gets up to full temp and you stop at red lights That's why I don't Think it is carb related ..

Had exact same issue on older carbed 1200. It was the manifold gasket between carb and intake manifold. It was laeking when engine got hot. Wya to tell is pull out enricher/choke when stopped at light. Revs should increase. Just abour guarantee this is it.
