Ok so I have my 2007 XL1200L and have put 13" RK air shocks on the rear. I will be adding the xl1200R dampers to the forks, so I will need a longer stand. Do I just order one for an R or look for and extended model for my bike?
All the listings I have found so far just say 1" over jiffy stand but do not say for what model.
Any suggested sources?
I have looked at the bung king lift and while it would probably work, I cannot warm up to the look of it.
Also, my stand has an extension piece to make it easier to get your foot on and put it down. Do they all come that way?
They dont all have the extension piece, but you can get them and some bolt on, weld on or clamp on. If you know the length of your stock stand, you can go to the dealer and they can look up different length stands. I would think you need about at least a 2 inch longer stand. For my 18 Iron 1200 I just went to the dealer and had them look up the longest stand.
It was a 12 inch stand from a 98 model. It went right on with no mods and worked perfect.
Once I raised my front suspension I had to buy a 1 inch extension block for the bottom of the stand so it did not lean as much.
If you can get by with a 1 inch longer stand, Just buy a extension block for the bottom.
I should find another one, too. With the RK shocks, I put a piece of 2x6 under it in the garage, look for a slope to park on other places if available. Sure leans, have to be sure it's on something really solid, no dirt or warm asphalt.
I ordered one from J&P last night, so problem will be solved. Will put it on when I do the fork dampers.
Did you order the Drag Specialties 1" Over Stock stand? I have 13" shocks on my Iron and added the BungKing 1" lift block and honestly it looks like crap.
Yea I did and I looked at Bung King and did not like the look either. It will be a week before I can do this install due to a trip but will post when I do. I contacted J&P and asked specifically for a stand 1" over mine. Mine is 8" from mounting bolt to the first bend so this SHOULD be 9.
