can anybody here help me out with converting to chain drive.........what size nut is on the front pulley..... 1 7/8? how does it come off...what is the easiest way to take it off........?.................any help would be greatly appreciated....................................... ...................LOLIFE................. bike is a 2003 xl 883............................................... .
Yup, 1 7/8" but LEFT HAND THREAD (backwards) clockwise to remove. I used an impact wrench on mine. Came off slowly, as they had lots of locktite on it.
yeah, it's a 1-7/8 nut with lefty threads as stated. And a good impact wrench is the easiest way to take it off and it does come off rather slow, I just changed my belt sprocket for more teeth last month. I've heard others that took it off using a 10ft peice of pipe as a breaker bar, and still were barely able to get the nut off, so impact wrench if you can get your hands on one.
thanks guys...i had no idea is was left hand threads.................that helps a whole lot................................I was trying so hard to get it off....I was turning the motor over.................................LO........... .............
