repeat the process, make sure the cable is pushed into the primary all the way. Adjust it, then set your slack
You adjusted the ramp overcenter. Loosen the cable and the clutch adjustment at the derby cover. Then push the cable all the way in toward the clutch release in the primary - you need to be on the base of the ramps. Then do the clutch adjustment, then do the cable adjustment.

And in case it wasn't clear, make sure that the release lever the cable hooks into moves all the way back toward the rear wheel after loosening everything before adjusting anything.

I just tried again pushed toward rear adjusted and put nut on to keep in place. Went to adjust lever and it still tightened. So after that I did it again held it toward rear and adjust a little on cable. Both ways the lever is really hard to pull
Seems like you have something wedged in at the lever end.
Very simple to remove the circlip and pin to release the lever.
I removed lever yesterday and took the cable off the lube but didn't notice anything stuck. I took ball and ramp out readjusted them put back in and it's still the same. Could it be the cable itself? The bike usually sat outside on the porch. I had it to where it was rideable last week but would slip at full throttle in 4th and 5th. Decided to try to fix and now the lever is extremely hard and will not dis engage. There is more room for ramp to move but the cable wont pull any further

update: removed primary and found some chunks of metal. Looked in slots where clutch plates are and there are more chunks in there. Have to wait until I get spring compressor tool and then clutch plates before I open her up.
