Hey guys new here on the forums, i purchased a 2012 ironster 883 a few months ago.. Never had an issues with her until i came home from 4 weeks away at work, i'm just wondering if anyone could help me diagnose my problem or if i will have to bring her into the workshop to be assessed. New to owning a Harley, previously owned dirt bikes
So i came home to a flat battery and had to roll start her, started up no worry's but the revs where high almost like the choke was stuck on? Parked her up and let it idle for 2 mins before it started to backfire and run out of fuel.. so i turned her off straight away. Tanks full of fuel? oil seems fine, cant locate a choke lever on bike? Any help would be appreciated!
Chris welcome to HDF from the UK. To improve your knowledge of what you have bought, you can download for free an owners manual for your bike, just go to the H-D website and the Owners tab, with your VIN.
As Andy points out your bike doesn't have a manual choke, it is a modern vehicle with electronic engine management and fuel injection, so starting settings are automatic! First practical thing to do is to charge your battery, using a proper battery charger or a modern digital one. Nothing will work properly until you have a trusted battery! If it ran fine 4 weeks ago it will run OK again, so keep your hands in your pockets and don't fiddle about for the sake of it. Where did you buy it, dealer or private?
