Remove left side cover.
Remove ECM caddy cover.
Unplug the grey 4-way Molex connector that you should be able to trace back to the fuel pump.
Start the engine.
Operate the starter for a few seconds after engine stalls.
Remove main fuse.
Disconnect fuel supply line from tank.
Disconnect the vent pipe from the tank.
Remove the seat.
Remove the front and rear bolts that hold the tank on.
Protect top yoke and paint.
Lift rear of tank.
Remove fuel pump harness from trough on electrical caddy.
Remove fuel pump harness from caddy clip around frame backbone.
Protect the paintwork and you should be able to lift the tank off.
Hi, thanks for that, why do you have to purge the fuel line, can't you just disconnect everything and remove the tank, the reason i want to remove the tank is to inspect the welds on the inside of the mounting bracket where it runs along the tank tunnel, there has to be a simple reason why the tank is creating so much noise, cheers
