So I got a 2007 Sportster 1200cc. Got it from a older couple didn’t ride it for a year or so. Picked it up did all the necessary maintenance to it and have been riding it. Roughly put on about 4k miles on it. My issue that I’m having is with the chain cover gasket I use Lucas oil as the oil in my primary. However no matter how many gaskets I replace on the chain cover I get oil seeping from it. Right now I’m on gasket 4 and the longest lasting one so far made it about a week before seeping I even went so far to cover the weep hole on the gasket to see if that is where it’s seeping from but it seems to be going under the gasket. The gasket is put in the correct way and the bolts are torqued to spec ridden then double checked torque. Has anyone out there experienced this issue I know Harley’s are known to leak but after a long ride I got oil all over my rear caliper my tires saddle bags everything.
I have found that the rubber gasket that was on a 2008 got deformed and would leak. HD have changed the rubber gasket for a cardboard one on newer bikes. You might want to try one of those.

I’ll give that a shot I’ve tried about 3 brands of the rubber with no luck I did see I believe on another forum about a upgraded gasket that was a paper/foam gasket but couldn’t find it.
