ok - i have seen some of you pictures show you with flags on your bikes mounted behind you seats. can any of you offer flag mount descriptons of how they were made, mounted or where to get them.
I kinda made mine from a scrap piece of wood I saw in the garage that looked like it would work as a flag mount. Routered it out to fit between the bars on my luggage rack, counter sunk some bolts into the wood, then covered them over with some solid "plastic wood". Sanded that down, and painted it to be a brushed alumninum (damn, that's a difficult word).
I was actually going for a chrome look, but I couldn't pull that off with the wood. After about 15,000 miles, it's needs some TLC, which it will be getting tomorrow. I've been selected to ride in the Harley Parade at the National HOG rally (big deal, me and 1,999 other bikers)
There are some nice mounts for small flags, but all that I've seen are quite expensive. This is one of those things that kinda has to be a "custom" job. Depending on the type of flag you want to fly, your bike, and how the bike is set up. We have MANY discussionswithin the Patriot Guard about different flag mounting hardware.
I havea mount for a smaller flag I got out of JC Whitney that goes on the luggage rack. Polished stainless steel. Holds a 6" x 9" "Highway Flag and a 10" x 15" Parade Flag.
JC Whitney # CBG272793 -Costs $59
A friend of mine made mine for me. It has 2 holes drilled so you can just mount it with the screws to the license plate holder and then it twists and flattens out where the holes are to mount the actual flag staffs.
On the Sporty I had my flag just zip tied to the sissy bar. I'm gonna have to figure out something for the Bob. Not many choices of places to put it now.

I just looked this up in the JC catalog and it only says it holds a 6x9 flag. How does it accomadate a 6x9 AND a 10x15?
shoot I picked up 2 small flags for donating to a Vet. fund at Archies during Mt.Fest (American flag & POW flag) both are stapled with 2 small staples to a small stick and tucked them in my backrest and heck if they haven't fallen apart yet,I'm actually amazedYou can barely see them in the pic but it's the only 1 I have with them[8D]
I got a automotive c clamp a piece of threaded rod and a chrome water pipe (sink supply line) threaded nuts on the rod around my luggage rack slipped the water line over it and put the flag over the water line total cost about $3.00

The steel mast is 12" high and secures to the mount with allen key. The 10x15 flag JCWhitney part # CBG272794 has a bigger seam than the 6x9 and slips over.
