Yes in neutral, with light not on, clutch has to be in to start. I haven't tried starting it once it starts functioning because by then it's running. I guess I should shut it off when the light is working and try with the clutch out.

If the clutch has to be pulled then bike thinks it is in gear which points to the switch or its wiring.

Hi Andy
Just picking up on an old thread as I have this problem.
The neutral indicator light is not working and I have to pull the clutch in to start.
Presumably, if the led had failed then it would start without the clutch being pulled in - if it was in neutral?
