Pieces confined to basket... luckily...(hopefully)
Had light basket damage...repaired.
1 friction disk toast...

That sucks but it sounds like there was no collateral damage. Even if there is some residual metal floating around the primary it would be very small and it is brass so it shouldn't be too much of a concern. I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

How many miles on your bike? What year is it? Are you the original owner?

Whats the best fix for this? For a stock bike and a guy wanting the same feel as the stock clutch?

Automotive transmissions use what they call a "wave plate" and it's kinda maybe what HD should have used. If you take a good look at this picture you can see it isn't flat it's wavy. It does the same thing that grenade plate does, it's a cushioning device.

Alto makes a heavy duty spring plate. Another option is the XR1200 / Buell XB setup which uses a judder spring that’s beveled (more closely resembles what Gary mentioned). Either path works with stock plates.
