The rear axle diameter for 2005 to 2007 is 1".
The diameter changed to 25mm for the 2008 model year, it stayed at 25mm until the end of the XL Sportster line in 2022.

swapping front ends is easy as ?
I have Street Bob forks (49mm) Fat Bob fender (cut/welded to fit), 16 x3 sporty rim, 2018 Sportster 48 triple tree with Speed Kings upper clamp to allow install of my risers.
Only real issue was wheel spacers. I ended up buying a spacer kit from eBay and machining a couple, the sizes I needed.
You DONT need to spend a huge chunk, if you search for alternate parts, NOT labeled Sportster. 👍
