Default Highway Pegs

I bought a 2007 Sportster 1200L in May and love it. I'm looking to do a few trips this fall and wonder if anyone has any recommendations for highway pegs. My bike has mid controls and I like them becausemy back usually hurts when I ride with forward controls. But during a long trip I would like toreposition my feet. Also I see alot of people talking about seats. I still have my stock seat.I did try the sundowner but did not like the forward feeling the seat gave me. I'm looking at the mustang day tripper. Anyone using that seat?

This site is fantastic and really appreciate the info.

Thanks

I have the Harley adjustable highway pegs on my Roadster . Its the single best addition on my bike. I agree that the sundowner moves you forward a bit when using mid controls, but when you stretch out on the highway pegs, its like cruising around in a La-Z-Boy. Well, almost. The Harley pegs weren't cheap but if you research, you can save some money on some aftermarket ones. Don't give up yet on that Sundowner, believe me.

Default Thinking of getting my wife a Sportster

One of my sons told me that he was told that Sportsters were top heavy, and hard to balance at very low speeds. I'm thinking of getting my wife one, but don't want to take any chances. I've heard that Sportsters were "chick bikes," and my wife likes them, but I thought I'd ask around and see if anyone here has heard the same thing. I never heard anything about this before. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.....

Dvassino - I have a 2007 Sporty with forward controls and I just added highway pegs, mainly because on long rides I'd like to adjust my leg position. I also have a sundowner, a bit ugly as far as seats go, but comfy as heck. Kuryakyn has a nice selection of mounts and pegs for less than you'dpay at the dealership (trust me, made that mistake.)

Ibtrucker, a Sporty is a chic's bike? Heck, I don't think ANYONE has EVER heard that before. Did you just make that up?My Sporty happens to be a chic's bike, because my FA rides it. (Are you just here to pick a fight with the guys?)

Yes, they are heavier than your "sport bikes"but, Harelys are made out of Steel, not fiberglass.

Sorry, didn't mean to offend. I did hear that, though. I was mostly concerned by what my son had told me that he heard; that they were a little top heavy. Personally, I like the heck out of them, and think they're really sharp. Again, sorry. I just heard about this site from my son, and thought I might get some insight on Sportsters. Have a good day.....

Sportsters were actually Harley's answer to the Japanese bikes at the time. I'm also pretty sure I've never seen a tag on a Sportster that said "womens".

I also have the adjustable highway pegs.It is nice to be able to shift your legs from time to time on those long rides.I have the mid controls so streching out is nice.

How did this thread change from "Highway Pegs" to "Thinking of getting my wife a Sportster"?? Or is just by computer screwing with me? [sm=confused06.gif]

I bought a set of the Kuryakynhighway pegs for our Sportster. They disintegrated in about 2K miles. I replaced them with some genuine HD pegs that have been holding up fine so far.

Sorry, I was trying to get some advice before buying my wife's bike. I think I may have inadvertently offended a few folks here, and didn't mean to, but I have gotten a few helpful responses.

Oh, by the way, I love your choice of rides. Mine is an '07 Softail Custom, too, and in Gloss Black, no less. Have a good 'ern!
