Sorry to hear such a sad story,no one got out with out some pain or suffering,i pray for the healing of all involved. you, your husband, and the owners of the dog.I am curious about how and why the dog was out, has it done that before, what breed it was. are they responsible owners, think it would be a home owners insur claim. hope all turns out well.
Been there, done that. 3 days after getting my first bike, dog t-boned me. Remember seeing the dog running into side of bike and the next thing I was getting up to pick up the bike because I knew cars were coming from behind me. Got it to the side of the road just as my nose started gushing blood. Scrapes from bridge of my nose to the split lip and down to my chin. Still have the scars 40 years later.
- this might sound mean , but if a dog runs into my bike
path , I am not braking at all. Square up , and hit it steady.
- braking/swerving ... you'll be worse off.
.
- glad to hear that your Husband is okay.
cheers.
.
That is the best advise right there. I know its instinct to lock up your brakes and try to avoid the accident. And i know it sounds cruelbut your bike will slice right thru a dog (depending on the size of the dog of course). I hit a racoon the size of adog and never felt a bump.
Glad your hubby is okay. That had to be horrible to witness your husband go down. Hope he's up and riding again real soon.
Sorry to hear about that. I saw my husband crash his bike too, and it is really horrible to feel so helpless to stop it. I am glad that your husband made it through with minor damage. Too bad about the dog. Sad that the dog was placed with owners that were negligent in fencing the dog for his own safety and the safety of others. I hope your husband recovers quickly.
