Installing a windshield

I put a new chrome triple tree on my "05 1200C which raked and widened the forks 1 1/2". My dealer said a standard sportster windshield won't fit, which i figured. Does anyone have any suggestions that might work for putting a windshield on my bike.

Have you looked at the smaller/lighter weight shields that mount to the handlebars?

I'd make some brackets for myself and take them to the chromer,,50 bucks later your in biz.
Only your fork width has got bigger,,not your body.
Or you could swap the left bracket for the right (which would give you about 3/4 inch per side) and if theres too much difference shim it to the clamp.

I like the idea of swaping the brackets and picking up that 1 1/2". Do they make a detachable shield that mounts to the handlebars? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm fairly new to this.

I've seen small windshields that clamp to the handlebars sold in JC Whitney for $90ish. Not sure if you want to go that route, per se, but it's an option.
