For the 12 inch apes, I had to extend all cables(I/T, clutch, brake). I also had to extend all the wires for the hand controls about 7 inches for the internal wiring(spliced and soldered). If you go with the 7 inch short stacks you should be ok for wires, but internal wiring would look best. If you go with the 12 inch new cables and wires is the only clean way to go IMO.
I almost went with the short stacks but decided against them.
Looks great man. Funny thing...I just added the 12" apes, nostalgic grips, and moved the speedo. But yours look better with the wiring routed inside the bars.
Where did you get the 'extra' wiring for extending the additional 7"? Did you drill holes in the bars for routing the wires?
I still have the turn indicators on the bars so would need wiring for them also.
August was a bust here in the NW with the rain but Sept is making up for it. Like I said before, I ride year round so I'm enjoying the extended sunny weather.

Ride safe bro!
I cut out the dimpled section under the hand controls and about a 1" section at the bottom of the bars between the risers using a Rotozip. I got the extra wiring from Tacoma screw and soldered the extra 7" in to each wire for the hand controls.
If you want to do this and would like a hand let me know.
Man its been hard to work these past few days because of the great weather.
PM me the link to your blog I like to see some pics of your bike.
