Installed New Derby Cover & Verified Primary/Tranny Capacity
Felt guilty for not having my new "Flame Collection" derby cover installed, and since I'm always curious, I also wanted to verify the fluid capacity for the primary/tranny. Last time I changed the primary fluid I just drained it and added one quart (per manual specifications) through the inspection cover.
Drained the fluid, added exactly one quart of Amsoil 20W-50 MCV, and then pulled the derby cover to swap it out and check fluid level.
With the bike perfectly level 32 ounces brought the fluid to the correct level. I'd heard everything from 28 ounces to 32 ounces after draining, but on my 2005 1200C 32 ounces seems to be the magic number.
