Well here I wait untill june 8 to get my bike into the shop. I am having problems shifting. 1st to second is good but after that sucks. Third is there sometimes and if i can get all the way to 5 she don't like to come down. So looking at my service manual it might be the shifter drum or a shifting fork.
My questions are ?
Is this a common problem or is it because I like to ride her too hard.
Anyone have a rough idea of price to have this repaired.
I ride a 2k xlh 883 /1200 conv. with 6400km had since new.
What do you mean by "ride her too hard"? have you been power shifting, not letting off the throttle, not using the clutch, or what. I thrash my 06, on occasion, and I'd like to not do whatever it is that might have caused your problems.
Back in my young and wild days (long long ago) I used to run my Kawasaki 1000 at the drag strip. I started power shifting (no clutch and no backing off the throttle) and that lowered my ET by a full second! Only problem was my tranny was toast after a couple of months of racing. I sure am glad I'm older and mellower now.
I have not been power shifting but i have grabbed third pretty hard a couple times. I have forward controls and I find when I run wot I have to fight just to keep my feet on the pegs darn g forces. I would like to find some chrome sturups to keep them feet planted.
I caught my self shifting down once with out the clutch after romping around in the mud all day on my quad thats has a 5 speed with an auto clutch
but that only that only happened once I think .
Whats the price of a tranny rebuild now adays 1000-1200 ?
I should start a poll . How much will it cost to repair lol.
I dropped my bike off at the shop yesterday. All I can do now is wait .
Man I am sure jonesing to go for a ride . I have waited 5 long weeks to get my bike in to the shop.
Now I hope my bike is not sitting there forever and a day.
Well, one big problem with a sporty, is to do anything to the tranny, you have to pull the motor, tear it down, and split the cases. It will probably be a while before you see it again.
WOW...That sounds like a lot of work in regards to time. I hope for XLpete's sake the mechanics work fast. It could be an expensive repair bill.
