Default Any Changes for 883L in 2010?

I test rode an 883L (2009) on Saturday and really liked it. Are there any changes to the 2010 883L? Also, should dealers be discounting the 2009s yet? Thanks for the advice and information. This is a fantastic forum; thanks to everyone for answering all the questions from this lady rider.

All 2010 Sportsters have the ECM relocated from under the seat. The '07-'09 models (I think) have the ECM hidden under the seat creating a large hole in the rear fender. If you wanted to remove the stock seat and replace it with a spring solo seat you would have to relocate this box and fill in the hole.

The '10 models have the ECM relocated (whereabouts unknown to me) and the hole filled. In addition the MoCo now makes a spring solo seat specifically for Sporties to take advantage of the relocation. A spring solo seat is a popular mod for people looking to turn their Sporty into a "bobber". It's nice to see the MoCo recognizing popular trends in the Sportster world and adjusting their design to fit.

As far as I know that is the only change in the 2009 to 2010 models. Here is a pic of the seat that can be purchased seperately...

Any discounting will probably be limited to what they have been doing most of the year. Production for the 2010 models is going to be limited to slightly below demand, to clear up the over inventory situation they have with 2009 models.

This is a BIG change for 2010. The 07-09 Sorties have been plagued by water intrusion problems into the fuse box and surrounding wiring harness. Hopefully the relocation of the ECM and fuse box will resolve the problem.

Other have mentioned the key changes, here's the scoop dorect from the 2010 MY Technical Forum:

•ECM relocation to down tube behind rear cylinder
–Design allows for XL harness to be installed in the same assembly location as XR harness
•Consolidation and reorientation of fuse block
–Addresses current warranty concern (water intrusion/corrosion) by positioning the fuse block in a downward sloping orientation and adding a protective cover
–Consolidation of wire harness circuits has reduced the amount offuses within the fuse block
•New oil tank
•New oil tank bracket
–Dual purpose mounting of oil tank and ECM Caddy

1.Added 10 psi. Pressure Relief Valve Assembly:–The oil tank has a pressure relief valve in the top of the tank–If the vent line is pinched, restricted or if the tank is overfilled, excessive pressure is created in the oil tank–The valve opens if the pressure in the tank exceeds 10 psi. to prevent damage to the oil tank

2.New XL Oil Return Line location, moved to right hand side of XL models due to the ECM relocation.

Thanks for all of the excellent information. Looks like I should maybe wait until 2010. I'm guessing that if an 09 sporster has the problems with the fuse box and harness that the warranty will cover it..................is this correct?

Warranty will cover the replacement. But unless they have a design recall/correction.....the possibility of the problem will still exist.
